Irene Klar

Irene Klar was born in Montreal in 1950. After completing degrees in Physical Therapy and Science at McGill University, she moved to Edmonton in 1973. She received a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Alberta Faculty of Extension in 1978 - 1987 and lectured in Art History at Grant McEwan Community College in 1978. She resides in Alberta with her family.

People, their textiles, pattern decoration and colors serve as her inspiration. Her interest in universal design elements has taken her on far-reaching travels from Australia to Guatemala and Morocco. She was commissioned to do the paintings for the Amnesty International Canada 1993 calendar and six of the ones in the Amnesty USA pocket calendar.

Irene Klar paintings have peen exhibited in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary (Canada), Palm Springs, Scottsdale, Santa Fe, Dallas, Memphis (USA), Auckland (New Zealand) and Sydney (Australia).
