Brent Baker was born in Athens, Ohio in 1952.  After receiving his degree in Fine Arts and Business Administration from Ohio State University in 1973, Brent embarked on a career as a professional artist.
Brents trademark style paintings are bold colorful non-objective and representational compositions with acrylic paint and charcoal making them a unique blend.  Brent's first love is non-objective (abstract) painting, these paintings are often intertwined with gestured markings that sweep across the painted surfaces creating vivid expressionistic statements.  Brent's goals are to combine an intuitive and intellectual understanding of color and form to create unique and pleasing effects in his paintings.
Brent has been influenced by a wide range of movements including impressionism and abstract expressionism.  Artists Henri Matesse and Milton Avery are strong influences in his work.
Brent's work has been included in many private and corporate collections including Marriott Inc., Nordstroms, Larson-Juhl Corporation and Pier One.
Brent currently resides in Athens, Ohio.
