Mike Stark's life began in Jacksonville, Florida, but quickly shifted to the Los Angeles area for the next 27 years.

He received a Bachelor's Degree from U.C.L.A. in 1966, with a major in Zoology and a minor in Art and at that time found himself concentrating on scientific and biological illustration.

For the next four years, he was employed as a high school instructor in the sciences and was responsible for the creations of a scientific illustration course for advanced art students in the Costa Mesa / Newport Beach area of Southern California.

At this point, he returned to Graduate School to study counseling and school psychology and was employed by Cedars of Lebanon Hospital Research Department as an illustrator and preparator of exhibits.

He presently makes his home with his family on an island just of the northwestern coast of Washington State.   From his six acre home and studio, Mike has traveled off to the Soviet Union, China, Japan, Ireland and Greece.  In addition to his love of wildlife, he has been, in recent years, creating pen and ink drawings of the people and places of Europe and Asia.  After an art career of over 30 years, Mike Stark's drawings and original prints are seen in galleries throughout the United States as well as internationally.
