est companion.  His love of wildlife and wild places was imprinted on him at a early age; and throughout his life he has expressed his love of out-of-doors through his art.
Now considered one of Wildlife Arts'   prominent original print artists, Daniel Van Zyle's etchings and lithographs derive their special magic from the dramatic interplay of masterful delineation and romantic idealism.  As one critic observed, Van Zyle's works are united by a "keen and patient observation and attention to detail with virtuoso drawing skills that create a pure and precise vision of the beauty and vulnerability of wildlife."  This is evidenced in his works on paper as well as his paintings and drawings.
His love affair with original prints began in 1981 when his twin brother, Jon, encouraged Daniel to give it a try.  Since that very first stone, as Dan puts it, he has been "hooked on the integrity of the hands-on process of original prints."  More recently he has also embraced the old world art of etching and continues to coax memorable impressions out both metal and stone.
Working with master printers in Alaska, New Mexico, Hawaii, California and Washington Van Zyle has created a body of work which is technically inspiring and beautiful to behold.  For those who love art, Daniel Van Zyle's work provide a journey of continuous discovery.
Daniel Van Zyle's paintings, drawings and original prints are exhibited throughout the United States and his work is collected internationally.   Van Zyle and his wife, Roslyn, reside in Hawaii.  He travels three months each year researching ideas for new works, working at the Island International Artists atelier on Guemes Island, and fishing in any body of water larger than a puddle.
